The Ana Townhomes

The Ana Townhomes at Howard Road will be a 20 workforce and affordable townhomes. Dubbed The Ana to represent her ushering of modern and transit-oriented living, commonly reserved for neighboring wards, into this Anacostia community.

This community will be constructed in Anacostia by Howard Road Community Partners (HRCP). HRCP is a joint venture between two local CBE firms, H2 Design Build led by Harvey Yancey, and ASSET Management Consulting led by emerging developer Tessa Edison. This partnership started at the RFP response stage in 2018. The Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development (DMPED) awarded the site to HRCP in 2019.

After working closely with the Council and the community HRCP closed on the land disposition in 2022. The team is in partnership with the DC Housing Finance Agency utilizing their Housing Investment Platform (HIP). First position financing is provided by a local community bank and CDFI, Olty First Broadway.

Each townhome at The Ana will feature three bedrooms with 3.5 bathrooms and single-car garages. Howard Road Townhomes will ultimately consist of two phases, each with 10 townhomes. DCHFA has invested $605,000 to begin construction on Phase I of the project. Each home will have three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a single-car garage. Fourteen units will be reserved for residents earning up to 120 percent AMI, three units for those earning up to 80 percent AMI, and three units for those earning 50 percent or less AMI.

The developer of Howard Road Townhomes is H2DesignBuild, which has successfully delivered three prior HIP projects: Elvans Road Townhomes, Cynthia Townhomes, and The Douglass: A Todd A. Lee Townhome Community. The HIP program was developed under the leadership of DCHFA's late former executive director and CEO Todd A. Lee.

The Ana will be the fourth community developed through the HIP program and the second Todd A. Lee Townhome Community.
